ANTONIO DELLO SPIRITO SANTO

ANTONIO dello Spirito Santo. - Discalced Carmelite mystical writer, born at Monte Moro Velho (Coimbra), in Portugal. On the proposal of Peter II, King of Portugal, he was elected and consecrated Bishop of Angola in 1674; but he died the same year at Loanda. He wrote the *Directorium regularium* (Lyons 1661 [?]); *Directorium confessariorum* (ibid. 1671); *Directorium mysticum* (ibid. 1677), which was reprinted several times (latest ed. Paris 1904).
