ANTONIO of Saint Joseph. - Spanish Discalced Carmelite, born in 1716 at Zornosa (Biscay), died in 1794 at Burgos. He entered the Carmelites in Tudela in 1732, taught moral theology for many years at the college in Burgos, and held the office of prior at Balmaseda, Corella, and Burgos (1766-69).
He left an extensive *Commentary on the 3rd and 4th volumes of the Epistolary of Saint Teresa* (Madrid 1771-78), and a *Compendium Salmanticense universae theologiae moralis* (2 vols. in-folio, Rome 1779), which in a short time went through 8 Latin editions and 3 Spanish editions.
