ANTONIO di SAN GIUSEPPE. — Spanish Discalced Carmelite, born in 1716 at Zornosa (Biscay), died at Burgos in 1794. Having become a Carmelite at Tudela in 1732, he taught moral theology for many years at the college of Burgos and held the office of prior of Balmaseda, Corella, and Burgos (1766–69).
He left an extensive Commentary on the III and IV volumes of the Epistolary of Santa Teresa (Madrid 1771–78), and a Compendium Salmanticense universae theologiae moralis (2 folio volumes, Rome 1779), which within a short time went through 8 editions in Latin and 3 editions in Spanish translation.
