ARAGON, PEDRO DE

PEDRO DE ARAGON. — Augustinian friar, born in Salamanca, died between 30 September and 9 October 1592. He made his profession in 1561 and completed his early studies in his native city. He obtained his academic degrees at the University of Huesca and there began his teaching career, which he later continued as professor of theology at the University of Salamanca. In 1575 he attended the general chapter held in Rome and was appointed to revise the constitutions of the Order. He wrote an extensive and classic commentary on the *Secunda Secundae* of St Thomas, of which the following were his first two volumes: 1) *De fide, spe et caritate* (Salamanca 1584); 2) *De iustitia et iure* (Salamanca 1590). This work is representative of the Augustinian school of Salamanca, since the author made use of the manuscripts of his teachers Guevara, León and Uzeda.
