AREGAZZI (Aregatius or De Regatiis), FRANCESCO.—Theologian and canonist of the Friars Minor Conventual, born in Cremona in 1375, died in Bergamo on 6 August 1437. Because of his rare learning and piety, at the age of 28 he was appointed bishop of Bergamo (31 January 1403), and in that capacity took part in the Council of Constance, where he also delivered various speeches. He wrote treatises on philosophy and theology, commentaries on the Epistles of St Paul, etc.; he printed Homiliae dominicales totius anni and many other works now unknown.
