ARNOLFO, VESCOVO DI SOISSONS

ARNOLFO, Bishop of Soissons. - A native of Brabant, he died at Altenburg on the eve of the Assumption in 1087. First a soldier, then a monk at St. Medard of Soissons, in 1081 he became bishop of that city, where he encountered continual difficulties. A papal legate from 1084 in Flanders, he founded there the Benedictine monastery of Altenburg (Oudenburg).
