BACCINI, IDA. - Born in Florence in 1850 and died there in 1911, she was a prolific writer, appreciated for the goodness, sincerity and freshness with which her work appears pervaded. Her books won the greatest approval among the boys and girls of her time.

B. directed two educational periodicals: Il giornale dei bambini and Cordelia, the latter founded by A. de Gubernatis. B. wrote: Le memorie di un pulcino, Il libro delle novelle, Angeli del cielo e angeli della terra, Per le veglie invernali, Storie allegre e storie mette. Interesting and instructive is the book entitled Piccoli viaggiatori, a journey in China, in which are collected the letters, rich in wonders for the description of the places visited, that two boys send to their mother during a journey of theirs from Florence, to Livorno and to Singapore, touching, during the journey, Messina, Aden, Ceylon.

An autobiographical character have the books: La mia vita and Scintille nell'ombra.
