IDA BACCINI. - Born in Florence in 1850 and died there in 1911, she was a prolific and esteemed writer, appreciated for the goodness, sincerity, and freshness that permeate her work. Her books enjoyed great success among the young people of her time.
Baccini directed two educational journals: *Il giornale dei bambini* and *Cordelia*, the latter founded by A. de Gubernatis. Among her works are: *Le memorie di un pulcino*, *Il libro delle novelle*, *Angeli del cielo e angeli della terra*, *Per le veglie invernali*, *Storie allegre e storie meste*. Notable and instructive is the book entitled *Piccoli viaggiatori, viaggio in Cina*, which collects letters, rich in wonder at the description of the places visited, that two boys send to their mother during a journey from Florence to Livorno and Singapore, passing through Messina, Aden, and Ceylon.
Her books *La mia vita* and *Scintille nell'ombra* have an autobiographical character.
