BENEPLACITUM APOSTOLICUM. – The consent or approval of the Holy See, called b. a., is required for the validity of certain acts that are dealt with in the CIC.
Thus, for example, b. a. is necessary to remove the immovability of a parish priest in parishes established with that right. In tit. XXIX of lib. III of the CIC, the norms that must be observed in the alienation of ecclesiastical goods are set out: can. 1532 requires b. a. (cf. can. 2347, n. 3) for the alienation of precious objects (artistically, historically, etc.), or of immovable goods whose value exceeds thirty thousand lire or francs; and likewise can. 1541, § 2, n. 1 requires b. a. for the leasing of ecclesiastical goods for a term exceeding nine years, when the value of the lease exceeds that sum.
