BENEPLACITUM APOSTOLICUM. – The consent or approval of the Holy See, called b. a., is required for the validity of certain acts contemplated in the CIC.
Thus, for example, b. a. is necessary to remove the irremovability of the parish priest in parishes established with this right. In tit. XXIX of bk. III of the CIC, the norms to be observed in the alienation of ecclesiastical goods are determined: can. 1532 requires b. a. (cf. can. 2347, n. 3) for the alienation of precious objects (artistically, historically, etc.), or of immovable goods whose value exceeds thirty thousand lire or francs; likewise, can. 1541, § 2, n. 1 requires b. a. for the leasing of ecclesiastical goods for more than nine years,
