Bertoldo Of Moosburg (Moosburg, Maisberch)

BERTOLDO di MOSBURG (MOOSBURG, MAISBERCH). — Dominican scholastic of the first half of the sixteenth century. Perhaps a disciple of Dietrich di Friburgo (de Wulf), he taught in Cologne. In 1318 he wrote a commentary on Aristotle’s Μεταφρολογικά. His principal work is the Expositio in elementationem theologicum Procli (Σταυξίωσις θεολογική). Grabmann cites two manuscripts of it, Vat. lat. 2192 and no. 104 of Balliol College. A convinced proponent of Neoplatonism and doctrinally related to Albertus Magnus and the German Dominican school, B. exerted considerable influence, and admiring echoes of his writings are still found in the works of Cardinal Cusano.
