ANTONIO BRUNO. — Jesuit missionary, born in Messina c. 1588, entered the novitiate on 6 January 1605. Having set out for the Indies, he completed his theological studies at Goa, from where he sailed in 1620 for Ethiopia. He worked with zeal and success at Fremona, Collela (1624), Adaxâ (1626) and again at Collelâ (1631). Expelled from Ethiopia by the new emperor Fasiladas together with Patriarch Mendez and the other missionaries (1633), he died at Goa on 8 September 1640.
