He worked in Rome; to him is attributed the façade of the church of S. Chiara (now lost) and that of S. Maria di Monserrato, as well as the reconstruction of the church of S. Maria in Aquiro. In these works, while adhering to the Roman tradition of the late 16th century, he imparts to the volumes a clear definition, and to the structures a logical solidity and compositional clarity of Tuscan taste. His masterpiece is the church of S. Giacomo in Augusta, with an elliptical plan whose major axis is perpendicular to the façade so as to reduce the centrality in order to allow the perspective axis to prevail. To him has also been attributed the church of S. Atanasio ai Greci.
