CARVAJAL, Luis. - Franciscan theologian, born in Andalusia around 1500, probably in Jódar, where he died in August 1552. Invited by Paul III to the Council of Trent, he took part in many important discussions and contributed to the exclusion of the Virgin from the inheritance of original sin (Session V, canon 6).
He wrote: *Apologia monasticae religionis diutius magis Erasmi* (Salamanca 1528), and in reply, *Dulcratio annuarium lentiarum erasmicae responsionis ad apologiam fratris Ludovici* (Paris 1530); *Declamatio expostulatoria pro Immaculata Conceptione* (Seville 1553 and Paris 1541); *De restitutione Theologia liber* (Cologne 1545 and Antwerp 1548 under the title: *Theologicarum sententiarum liber unus*); a discourse delivered at the Council of Trent on March 6, 1547 (Antwerp 1548).
