COELHO, ANTONIO. – Liturgist, b. at Braga on 24 May 1892, d. at Singeverga on 20 Dec. 1938. A Benedictine monk, he spent several years studying at the abbeys of Maredsous and Mont-César.
Upon returning to Portugal, he founded the periodical Opus Dei, which was succeeded in 1931 by Mesageiro de S. Bento. He is the author of a Corso di liturgia romana, translated into various languages (5 vols., Turin 1935 ff.), a work not without importance, in which the rubricist aspect is more developed than the scholarly part.
