COINDRE, ANDRÉ. – Priest, born in Lyon on 26 February 1787, died there on 30 May 1826. At the seminary of Argentières he distinguished himself for intelligence and piety. Ordained a priest in 1812, he distinguished himself for his oratorical power, directed toward repairing the damage caused by the French Revolution. Concerned about the future of young people, in 1821 he founded the institute of Brothers of the Sacred Heart (v.), which his successor, Brother Ippolito Gondré, perfected and developed.
