André COINDRE. — Priest, born in Lyon on 26 Feb. 1787, died there on 30 May 1826. At the seminary of Argentières he distinguished himself by his intelligence and piety. Ordained priest in 1812, he shone forth by his oratorical power directed to repairing the damage caused by the French Revolution. Concerned for the future of youth, in 1821 he founded the institute of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart (v.), which his successor Brother Hippolyte Gondré perfected and developed.
