COLLECTANEA COMMISSIONIS SYNODALIS. - Bimonthly organ of the synodal commission established by order of the first Plenary Council of China (1924) in order to deal systematically and practically with the problem of schools, the Catholic press, and Catholic Action in China.
It has been published in Peking since 1928, in substantial issues of about one hundred pages, and serves as a link with the missionaries: in addition to official directives or information concerning teaching, the editorial office welcomes contributions from missionaries, especially correspondents from each vicariate. Each subject entrusted to the journal (schools, press, Catholic Action) is illustrated by general theoretical and practical studies, statistics, surveys, documentation, various orientations, and bibliographies. Latin, French, English, and Chinese are accepted; the most important articles also include a summary in Latin. The journal also bears alternative titles in French and English: Dossiers de la commission synodale, Digest of the Synodal Commission. From 1948, reorganizing itself in accordance with the wishes expressed by the foreign and native clergy, it began to appear under the title China Missionary, in 6 annual issues (cf. China Missionary, 1 [1948], pp. 2-4). Pasquale D'Elia
