CUCCHI, TITO MARIA. - Italian theologian and bishop, b. at Cerasa (diocese of Fano) on 2 March 1860, d. at Senigallia on 8 Sept. 1938.
A pupil of the Pio Seminary, he obtained at the Apollinare a degree in philosophy, theology, and utroque iure; at that same institution he held the chair De locis theologicis in 1888; shortly thereafter he became rector of the same Pio Seminary (1893), and in 1900 he was promoted to bishop of Senigallia. An accomplished orator, he published many homilies and addresses. As a theologian he distinguished himself by the clarity of his doctrine and above all by having prepared a new edition of the theological works of Melchior Cano: De locis theologicis, Relectio de Sacramentis in genere, Relectio de sacramento Poenitentiae (3 vols., Rome 1900). He had been a member of the Roman Academy of St. Thomas since 1888.
