CUCCHI, TITO MARIA. - Italian theologian and bishop, b. at Cerasa (diocese of Fano) on 2 March 1860, d. at Senigallia on 8 Sept. 1938.

A pupil of the Pius Seminary, he obtained his degree in philosophy, theology and in utroque iure at the Apollinare; in that same athenaeum he held the chair De locis theologicis in 1888; shortly afterwards he became rector of the same Pius Seminary (1893) and in 1900 he was promoted bishop of Senigallia. A polished orator, he printed many homilies and discourses. As a theologian he was distinguished for the clarity of his doctrine and above all for having edited a new edition of the theological works of Melchior Cano: De locis theologicis, Relectio de Sacramentis in genere, Relectio de sacramento Poenitentiae (3 vols., Rome 1900). He was a member of the Roman Academy of St. Thomas from 1888.
