CUCCHI, TITO MARIA

CUCCHI, TITO MARIA. - Italian theologian and bishop, born at Cerasa (diocese of Fano) on 2 March 1860, died at Senigallia on 8 September 1938.

A student of the Pio Seminary, he obtained the degree in philosophy, theology and in *utroque iure* at the Appellant; in that same university he held the chair of *De locis theologicis* in 1888; shortly afterwards he became rector of the same Pio Seminary (1893) and in 1900 was promoted bishop of Senigallia. A polished orator, he published many homilies and discourses. As a theologian he distinguished himself by the clarity of his doctrine and especially by editing a new edition of the theological works of Melchior Cano: *De locis theologicis*, *Retelectio de Sacramentis in genere*; *Retelectio de sacramento Poenitentiae* (3 vols., Rome 1900). He was a member of the Roman Academy of St Thomas from 1888.
