CUTTACK, Diocese of — Suffragan of Madras (India), entrusted to the Spanish missionaries of the

Saxons. Born in Northumbria at the beginning of the 7th century, he entered monastic life in 651: he was first at Melrose, a foundation of Lindisfarne, then at Ripon, then again at Melrose as prior and thus for 12 years prior at Lindisfarne, where he seems to have made
the precepts of the Council of Nicaea. These no longer had value after the Gregorian reform of the calendar, which altered the solar cycle.
