D'ALESSANDRO, SEBASTIANO. – Bishop and theologian, born in Motta S. Giovanni (Calabria) on 28 Oct. 1603, died in Ruvo on 29 Sept. 1672.
In 1619 he entered the Carmelite Order, completing his studies in Catanzaro, Padua, Rome, and Messina, where he obtained his degree. He held the offices of prefect of studies at the Carmine Maggiore in Naples, provincial for Calabria, and general assistant for Italy. He served as consultor to the Sacred Congregation of the Index and as bishop of Ruvo. Works: *Libra pensilis, in cuius gemina lance praedestinati et reprobi, quod numerum pensitantur* (Rome 1671); *Theorematia varie ex praecipuis Carmelitanae Religionis doctoribus selecta* (Rome 1624).
