D'ALESSANDRO, SEBASTIANO. – Bishop and theologian, born in Motta S. Giovanni (Calabria) on 28 October 1603, died in Ruvo on 29 September 1672.
In 1619 he became a Carmelite, completing his studies in Catanzaro, Padua, Rome, and Messina, where he obtained his degree. He held the offices of prefect of studies at the Carmine Maggiore in Naples, provincial for Calabria, and assistant general for Italy. He was consultor of the Sacred Congregation of the Index and bishop of Ruvo.
Works: Libra pensilis, in cuius gemina lance praedestinati et reprobi, quoad numerum pensitantur (Rome 1671); Theoremata varie ex praecipuis Carmelitanae Religionis doctoribus selecta (Rome 1624).
