Daller, Balthasar

DALLER, BALTHASAR. - Bavarian priest and politician, b. 22 Jan. 1835 at Gasteig, d. 3 March 1911 at Freising.

Ordained a priest in 1861, he later became professor of ecclesiastical law and Church history at the royal secondary school of Freising. From Feb. 1871 until his death he was a deputy in the Bavarian Diet. Founder of the Bavarian patriotic party (Bayerische patriotische Partei), he set as his aims the harmonious collaboration of State and Church, especially in the question of the schools, and the safeguarding of Bavaria's rights within the German Empire.
