DE RUBEIS (DE ROSSI), BERNARDO MARIA. - Dominican historian and theologian, born at Cividale del Friuli on 8 Jan. 1687, died at Venice on 28 Jan. 1775. He spent several years teaching and, in the biennia 1733-35 and 1753-55, governed his religious province as vicar general. The fruit of his learned researches, he published about thirty works; the greater part of the abundant materials he collected, however, remains unpublished at the Marciana Library in Venice.
Worthy of note are: De gestis et scriptis ac doctrina s. Thomae Aq. (Venice 1750): thirty critical and apologetic dissertations, now included in the Leonine edition of the works of St Thomas (I, Rome 1882, pp. XLV-CCCXLVI); Monumenta Ecclesiae Aquilejeus commentario illustrata (Strasbourg 1740); De rebus Congregationis sub titulo b. Jacobi Salomonii (Venice 1751).
