DÜRR, LORENZ. - Exegete, Assyriologist, scholar of Eastern archaeology and the history of religions, born at Oberschwarzach (Bavaria) on 7 April 1886, died at Regensburg on 26 February 1939. A pious and highly learned priest, he was a privatdocent in Old Testament studies at Bonn (1921), professor at Braunsberg (1925), Freising (1933), and Regensburg (1938). He distinguished himself particularly in the comparative elucidation of concepts, texts, and institutions of the Old Testament with those of the religions of the ancient East.
