FAMILY OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS OF BRENTANA. — The Institute was founded on 22 September 1850 in Brentana (Milan) and only three years later its constitutions were approved by the Archbishop of Milan (3 January 1883). It received the decree of praise in 1894 and that of definitive approval on 17 August 1917. The constitutions were finally approved on 24 February 1923.

The specific purpose of the Institute is to make reparation for the injuries to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through special devotion to the Eucharist, to educate and instruct youth in Christian doctrine, to promote the splendor of sacred functions by the preparation of sacred vessels, and to visit and assist the sick in their homes or in public hospitals.

The Institute has 22 houses with 143 sisters.
