FAMILY OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS OF BRENTANA. - The Institute was founded on 22 Sept. 1880 in Brentana (Milan), and only three years later it was approved, together with its constitutions, by the archbishop of Milan (3 Jan. 1883). It obtained the decree of praise in 1894, and that of approval on 17 Aug. 1917. The constitutions were definitively approved on 24 Febr. 1923.

Its specific purpose is to make reparation for the injuries done to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through a special devotion to the Eucharist, to educate and instruct youth in a Christian manner, to promote the splendor of the sacred functions through the making of sacred furnishings; to visit and assist sick women at home or in public hospitals.

The Institute has 22 houses with 143 sisters.
