FIGLI DELLA CARITÀ D'ISSY. – Congregation founded in Paris in 1918 by Fr. Jean-Emil Anizan (b. 1853, d. 1928) for the evangelization of the working classes and the exercise of ministry in the poorest and working-class parishes, realizing the union of religious life with parochial demands. Approved by the Holy See in 1934, the Institute currently has 176 professed religious in 23 parishes in France and one in Morocco. In Paris it has the center of the Union des Œuvres.
FIGLI DELLA SACRA FAMIGLIA. – Religious congregation founded in Tremp, Spain, by G. Mafanet y Vives in 1864, for the promotion of devotion to the Holy Family and the safeguarding of Christian and social principles of the family. The same Mafanet established for the identical purpose the “Figlie della S. Casa di Nazaret.” The new Congregation, approved by the Holy See on 22 June 1901, spread mainly in Catalonia, and within it arose the pious practice of the “Visita domiciliare della Famiglia,” which today counts more than 2,500,000 members. Having spread also to America and Italy, it now has 20 houses with about 160 religious.
