Sons of the Holy Family

SONS OF THE HOLY FAMILY. – A religious congregation founded at Tremp, in Spain, by G. Mañanet y Vives in 1864, for the dissemination of devotion to the Holy Family and for the safeguarding of the Christian and social principles of the family. Mañanet himself established the «Daughters of the Holy House of Nazareth» for the same purpose. The new Congregation, approved by the Holy See on 22 June 1901, spread chiefly throughout Catalonia, and within it arose the pious practice of the «Home Visitation of the Holy Family», which today has more than 2,500,000 members.
