DAUGHTERS OF OUR LADY OF THE SACRED HEART (Naples). — They originated in Montefalcione (Archdiocese of Benevento) in 1888 through the work of Ida Cassi and with the approval of the Or-
local ordinary. The motherhouse was in the Diocese of Nola and subsequently in the Archdiocese of Naples, at Arzano, where it is currently located. On 8 April 1935 they received the decree of praise together with the temporary approval of the constitutions, which were then definitively approved on 8 April 1946. In 1922 the sisters’ habit was modified somewhat.
They are engaged in schools, nursery schools, workshops, boarding schools, orphanages, homes, seminaries, care for the sick in hospitals and nursing homes, and the teaching of catechism in parishes. In 1943 there were 288 sisters in 41 houses.
