FILIPPI (Philippi[s]us), Pietro Paolo. - Dominican theologian from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, died a nonagenarian before June 1690.

Having entered the Order of St. Dominic in Rome (convent of S. Maria sopra Minerva), he taught for many years and with distinction in the Perugian and Roman convents, earning the Order's highest recognition with the mastership in Sacred Theology.

He left valuable works, among which the following are to be remembered: Relctiones quatuor theologicae: I. De canis specterum intelligibilium angelici intellectus; II. De acta augmentativo caritatis; III. De supernaturalitate Gratiae et visionis beatificae et caritatis; IV. De distinctione specifico angelorum (Rome 1814).

rice and maize, destined for domestic consumption; sugar cane, tobacco, hemp (abaca) and the cacao palm, which feed exports; especially the latter, for which the F. enjoy a world primacy. The livestock heritage is fair (pigs, buffaloes), the profits of fishing notable, the forest riches (fine timbers) and mineral riches (gold, silver, coal, iron, chromite, manganese, copper, etc.) enormous; the one and the other barely touched; industrial development, still, very modest.
