Forum Iulium Carnicum is now Zuglio in Carnia. Originally a village, then a forum, and later a colony, it stood on the road that led from Aquileia through the Monte Croce Carnico pass into Noricum. It was the seat of a bishopric; its importance is attested by the remains of a basilica.
