BROTHERS OF SAINT PATRICK. – A religious institute founded at Tallow (County Carlow) in 1808 by the priest Daniel Delany, later Bishop of Kildare, for the education and instruction of youth in schools and colleges. It received from Leo XIII the decree of praise on 6 January 1888 and definitive approval on 8 September 1893.
The religious take simple perpetual vows and are also engaged in apostolic work. Besides Ireland, they are spread in Australia and India, numbering over 200 members in 32 houses.
