BROTHERS OF ST. Aloysius GONZAGA. — A lay institute of simple vows, founded in 1849 by Fr. Guglielmo Hellermons, a Cistercian and parish priest of Oudenboch, Diocese of Breda (Netherlands). Until 1908 it was under the jurisdiction of the Sacred Congregation of Propaganda Fide. The constitutions were first approved on 2 April 1887 and then definitively on 21 February 1933. The decree of praise was granted on 9 May 1922.
The special purpose of the Institute is the education of youth, through day schools, boarding schools, orphanages, youth associations, and catechists.
The generalate is at Oudenboch. In 1936 the Institute had 13 houses and 318 brothers.
