JAMES OF LAUSANNE - Dominican theologian and preacher, b. at Lausanne around the middle of the 13th century, d. at Pons in 1321. He was a member of the commission appointed by the master general of the Dominicans to examine the doctrine of Durandus of St-Pourçain (1313-14). From 1318 until his death he was provincial of France.
There survive from him the first two books of the Commentary on the Sentences (Vienna, Staatsbibl., ms. 1542), many sermons and various moral commentaries on almost all the books of Holy Scripture. The following were published: Sermones dominicales et festivales (Paris 1530); Opus moralitatum (Limoges 1528, some extracts from his moral commentaries on Holy Scripture).
