GOMEZ da LISBONA. – Conventual Franciscan theologian, d. in 1513. He directed the principal schools of the Order and was professor of philosophy and theology at the University of Pavia. In 1511 he governed the Order as apostolic vicar general. He took part in the Lateran Council (1512), and Julius II appointed him archbishop of Nazareth. It does not appear that he was consecrated.
Among his works are cited: Quaestio de cuiuscumque scientiae et praesertim naturalis philosophiae subiecto (posthumous ed., Venice 1517), and Quaestiones quodlibetales in via Scoti, which remained unpublished.
