GOMEZ of Lisbon. - Franciscan conventual theologian, d. 1513. He directed the principal studies of the Order and was professor of philosophy and theology at the University of Pavia. In 1511 he held the government of the Order as Apostolic Vicar General. He took part in the Council of the Lateran (1512), and was appointed archbishop of Nazareth by Julius II. He does not appear to have been consecrated.
Among his works are cited: *Quaestio de cuiuscumque scientiae et praesertim naturalis philosophiae subiecto* (posthumous ed., Venice 1517), and *Quaestiones quodlibitales in via coeti*, which remained unpublished.
