GUGLIELMO of TOCCO. — Dominican historian, born in the Benevento area c. 1238, died between 1323 and 1325. General preacher (1288), prior of Benevento (1291), and general inquisitor of the Kingdom of Naples (1300), he owes his fame, however, to the zeal and love with which he collected the documents concerning St. Thomas Aquinas in view of the canonization process, and to the *Vita s. Thomae de Aq. Ord. Praed.*, which is considered the first biography of the Saint. It was published in *Fontes vitae s. Thomae Aq.* edited by D. Prümmer, II, Toulouse 1912-24, pp. 65-160.
