GUGLIELMO di Tocco. – Dominican historian, born in the Beneventano area around 1238, died between 1323 and 1325. General preacher (1288), prior of Benevento (1291), and general inquisitor of the Kingdom of Naples (1300), he owes his fame, however, to the diligence and devotion with which he collected the documents concerning s. Tommaso d'Aquino in preparation for the canonization process, and to the Vita s. Thomae de Aq. Ord. Praed., which is regarded as the first biography of the Saint. It was published in Fontes vitae s. Thomae Aq., edited by D. Prümmer, II, Toulouse 1912–24, pp. 65–160.
