PRÜMMER, DOMINIKUS. - Dominican moral theologian, born at Kalterherberg on 3 Sept. 1866, died at Fribourg (Switzerland) on 9 June 1931. He entered the religious life in 1884, studied at Venlo and Louvain, and taught theology at Venlo and Düsseldorf, where he was prior from 1903 to 1906. He then became professor of moral theology at Hawksvarg in England (1906–1908) and later at Fribourg (1908–31).
Highly esteemed for the clarity of his exposition and the soundness of his doctrine, he wrote: *Manuale theologiae moralis* (3 vols., Fribourg in Br. 1915; 10th ed., Barcelona 1946), still widely used; *Vademecum theologiae moralis in usum examinandorum et confessariorum* (Fribourg 1921; 6th ed., Barcelona 1947), very widespread; and *Manuale iuris ecclesiastici* (2 vols., Fribourg 1907–1909, later adapted to the CIC; 6th ed., ibid. 1931). He also contributed many articles to various journals of ecclesiastical culture.
