RAMBERTO dei PRIMADIZZI. - Dominican theologian, b. in Bologna, d. at Castello (Venice) on 8 November 1308. A religious in his native city, he studied at Bologna and Paris; he was a disciple of St. Thomas.

A master in theology, he taught at Paris and Bologna, where he was also a consultor of the Holy Office (1288-91, 1299-1303). He took part in the General Chapter of Palencia (1291) and declared himself in favor of the master general Munio of Zamora, whom Nicholas IV wished to depose. On 20 February 1308 he was appointed bishop of Castello. Having received his license at Paris, he had to write a commentary on the Sentences and perhaps, as a master, left some Quodlibeta; of these, however, there is no record whatsoever. Of his works only the Apologeticum veritatis contra corruptorium is preserved. In this work, probably written at Paris, R. rebuts all the criticisms that William de la Mare had directed against St. Thomas, not sparing other anti-Thomists, such as Henry of Ghent, Matthew of Aquasparta, and Giles of Rome.
