KAISEDORYS, DIOCESE OF. – Diocese in Lithuania. It covers 9,743 sq. km. and has 228,026 inhabitants, of whom 220,426 are Catholics, distributed in 66 parishes (1951).
The diocese was erected by Pope Pius XI with the apostolic constitution *Lituanorum gente* of 4 April 1926, raising the new church of the Transfiguration to cathedral status.
