LANDONE, PAPA. — Almost nothing is known about this Pontiff. He was the son of a wealthy Lombard count from the Sabina, named Taino or Raino; he succeeded Anastasius III toward the end of 913 and died in the spring of 914. The duration of his pontificate, according to the Chronicon Farfense, would have been approximately six months; other medieval catalogues and chroniclers reckon a number varying from one to six (the Liber Pontificalis gives three), while some ignore him completely (Martino Polono, Vincenzo di Beauvais).
