LICCI(O), GIOVANNI, Blessed. — Dominican preacher, born in Càccamo (Palermo) c. 1426, died 14 Nov. 1511.
At fifteen he donned the religious habit in the Palermitan convent of S. Zita, where the Blessed Pietro Geremia was superior, whose reforming work L. would continue both among the religious and the people. His preaching enjoyed great success, especially in Sicily. He also preached in Vicenza. In 1487 he founded a Dominican convent in his native town. The following year he was elected vicar of the Reformed Congregation of Sicily, and again in 1497.
His cult was confirmed by Benedict XIV on 25 Apr. 1753. Feast day: 14 Nov.
