LICCI(O), GIOVANNI, blessed. — Dominican preacher, born at Caccamo (Palermo) around 1426, died on 14 November 1511.
At the age of fifteen he donned the religious habit in the Palermo convent of S. Zita, where the blessed Pietro Gerema was superior; L. would continue his reforming work, both among religious and among the people. His preaching met with great success, especially in Sicily. He was also in Vicenza. In 1487 he founded a Dominican convent in his native town. The following year he was elected vicar of the Reformed Congregation of Sicily, and again in 1497.
His cult was confirmed by Benedict XIV on 25 April 1753. Feast day: 14 November.
