LUCENA, DIOCESI. — Diocese and city in the Philippine Islands. The diocese was created by Pope Pius XII by the apostolic constitution Quo aeternae dominici gregis of 28 March 1950, through the dismemberment from the diocese of Lipa of the territory of the Island of Marinduque and the southern part of the civil province of Quezon, elevating the church of S. Francesco to the rank of cathedral. The diocese is a suffragan of Manila.
