Lucena, Diocese of. — Diocese and city in the Philippine Islands. The diocese was created by Pope Pius XII with the apostolic constitution *Quo aeternae dominici gregis* of 28 March 1950 by separating from the Diocese of Lipa the territory of Marinduque Island and the southern part of the civil province of Quezon, elevating to the status of cathedral the church of St Francis. The diocese is a suffragan of Manila.
