MARCO della TOMBA. — Missionary and Indian scholar; born at Tomba (Senigallia), date uncertain. He entered the Order of the Capuchins while still young and departed for northern India in 1755. There he worked at Bettiah, Patna, and Chandernagor. In 1773 he returned to Europe. In 1781 he set out once more for the same mission.
