MARCO di WEIDA. – Dominican preacher and ascetical writer, born in 1450, died before 13 July 1516. He distinguished himself at Leipzig and Eger in teaching, preaching, and writing pious works. His rosary theory depends on Alano and Michele François (v.), emphasizing its confraternal character and the number of 150 Ave, without the series of the 15 mysteries, which dates from a later period.
He wrote: Der spiegel des ehelichen lebens (unpublished in the Library at Wolfenbüttel); Ein nützliche lehre u. sonderlich aussiegege des heyl. Vater unsers (Leipzig 1502, 1516, 1520, Regensburg 1883); Der spiegel hochloeblicher bruderschaft des rosenkrantz Marie (Leipzig 1515).
