MONUMENTA ORDINIS FRATRUM PRAEDICATORUM HISTORICA. - A series of critical editions of sources for the history of the Dominican Order, begun during the generalate of Fr. Andrea Frühwirth.
The collection opens with the Vitae fratrum of Gerard of Frachet, published by Fr. Benedetto M. Reichert (Louvain-Rome 1896). The same scholar edited the Acta capitulorum generalium from 1220 to 1844 (vols. III, IV, VII-XIV: Rome-Stuttgart 1898-1904), the Litterae encyclicae magistrorum generalium (vol. V, Rome-Stuttgart-Vienna 1900), and the Cronica Ordinis of Friar Galvagno de la Flamma, of which only fasc. 1 was published (vol. II, Rome-Stuttgart 1897). Likewise, of vol. VI only 2 fascicles have been published, containing documents relating to the life and work of s. Raimondo de Peñafort (ibid. 1898-1901). Since 1933, other volumes have appeared in the same collection, edited by the Dominican Historical Institute of Santa Sabina in Rome, created by Fr. Gillet: a series of Monumenta historica s. patris nostri Dominici (vol. XV, Paris 1933; vol. XVI, Rome 1935), the Registrum litterarum of Tommaso Gaetano de Vio, that of Raymond of Capua and of other Masters and Procurators General, the Acta capitulorum provincialium provinciae Romae from 1243 to 1344, the Cataloghi of L. Pignon, of Stams and Uppsala, the De quatuor of Stephen of Salagnac and Bernard Gui, and the Epistolae b. Iordani de Saxonia. The latter (Rome 1951) form vol. XXIII. The editions were edited by Frs. M. H. Laurent, H. Ch. Scheeben, A. Walz, A. de Meyer, Th. Käppeli, G. Meersseman, D. Planzer.
