MARGHERITA DA FAENZA, blessed. – Vallombrosan mystic, died a centenarian in 1330. A disciple of St. Umiltà (v.) in the monastery of S. Maria of Faenza, she followed the Saint to Florence in 1280, where they succeeded in founding a new monastery in 1282.
In 1310 she succeeded St. Umiltà in governing the community. Endowed with exceptional charisms, in her visions she shared in the sufferings of the Lord’s Passion; it is said that he placed his ring on her finger. Her feast is celebrated on 26 August.
