MEDOLAGO ALBANI, STANISLAO. - A Bergamasque nobleman, born in Bergamo in 1852, died there on July 3, 1921. Together with Rezzara and Toniolo he was among the most active promoters of the economic and social works of Italian Catholics.

At the dissolution of the Opera dei congressi e comitati cattolici in Italy (1904) he held the presidency of the Unione economico-sociale, which had developed out of the second section of that same organization, which M. A. directed, and to which 2,432 entities then belonged, among cooperatives, mutual aid societies, rural banks, professional unions, etc. Later he was at the head of the Unione popolare together with Toniolo and Paolo Pericoli. He took part, as a representative of the Italians, in the work of the Catholic Union of Social Studies of Fribourg, which prepared Rerum novarum.
