MEDOLAGO ALBANI, STANISLAO. - A nobleman from Bergamo, born in Bergamo in 1852, died there on 3 July 1921. Together with Rezzara and Toniolo, he was among the most active promoters of the socio-economic works of Italian Catholics.
Upon the dissolution of the Opera dei congressi e comitati cattolici in Italia (1904), he assumed the presidency of the Unione economico-sociale, which had developed from the second section of that organization, directed by M. A. and then comprising 2,432 cooperatives, mutual-aid societies, rural credit banks, professional associations, etc. Later he headed the Unione popolare together with Toniolo and Paolo Pericoli. He took part, as representative of the Italians, in the work of the Catholic Union for Social Studies of Fribourg, which prepared the Rerum novarum.
