MONTECORVINO. – An ancient diocese in the province of Salerno, today merely a village called M. Rovella; it originated from a « monasterium S. Corvini ».
Its last bishop was Antonio, elected on 4 February 1432; in 1434 Pope Eugene IV united M. with the diocese of Volturaria, a suffragan of Benevento; in 1613, however, only a single chapel remained in M.; the settlement, including the ancient cathedral of S. Pietro, was deserted.
