PAOLO MORIGIA. – A Jesuit, born in Milan in 1525, died there in 1604. He served multiple terms as the superior general of his Order and reformed its statutes.
He composed a large number of historical works, mostly on religious subjects. The lack of critical sense, which led him to accept legendary tales and popular fables with naive credulity, deprives his writings of any historical value; yet they remain of considerable interest for the information they provide about the life of his time.
