Oderisi

ODERISI. - Illuminator, b. in Gubbio, but active in Bologna, where the documents show him present between 1268 and 1271.

Dante mentions him (Purg., XI, v. 79 ff.) alluding to him as the representative of the old manner of illuminating already in his day surpassed by that of Franco. Nevertheless, the research conducted by scholars to identify, among the miniatures executed in the second half of the thirteenth century in the Bolognese Studium, those of O., has so far led to no concrete results.
