ODERISI. — Illuminator, born in Gubbio, but active in Bologna, where documents attest to his presence between 1268 and 1271.
Dante recalls him (Purg., XI, V. 79 sgg.), referring to him as the representative of the ancient manner of illumination, already surpassed in his own day by that of Franco. Nevertheless, the research conducted by scholars to identify, among the miniatures executed in the Bolognese Studium during the second half of the thirteenth century, those by O., has so far produced no concrete results.
