PAOLO (MANASSEI) da TERNI. - Capuchin, preacher, missionary in Rhaetia, spiritual writer, b. 21 Feb. 1587, d. in the province of Brescia in May 1620.
He preached in his homeland, then in Rhaetia, whence, worn out by labours and penances, he withdrew to the province of Brescia.
At the exhortation of the celebrated apostolic preacher Fr. Girolamo da Narni, he wrote: Paradiso interiore, ovvero corona spirituale nella quale con trentatré esercizi si praticano tutte le virtù per arrivare alla perfezione (Bergamo 1631, 1684), which had repeated editions; but, suspected of Quietism, it was placed on the Index (decree of 26 Apr. 1689).
