He entered the Society of Jesus in 1647 and for 26 years was the companion of Fr. Paolo Segneri the Elder in the ministry of popular missions; he also assisted him in preparing and composing some works (e.g., *Il Confessore istruito*) and composed several ascetical works of his own that were highly sought after, especially for their clear doctrine, gentle style, and effectiveness. His principal works include: *La vera sapienza* (Venice 1683), *Lo specchio che non inganna* (Florence 1686), *La religiosa in solitudine* (Bologna 1695), *La croce allegorica* (Modena 1699), *Il S. Cuore di Maria Vergine* (Florence 1699), and *Il direttore* (posthumous, 1715).
