PORTOGRUARO, DIOCESE OF. — Recent excavations have brought to light a new burial area with two enclosures, containing quadrangular cells with three apses and entrances framed by isolated columns in the manner of a prothyrum.
In the central cell a sarcophagus bears the inscription of a Faustiniana of senatorial rank who, while still alive, had her burial prepared for herself, ending with the words: *Christi tabernaculo ac sanctorum memoria commendavit*. To the south, a triclia (late 4th century) has been discovered, from which, at the time of its abandonment (early 12th century), the nearby Romanesque baptistery assumed its planimetric configuration and dimensions. In the cemetery basilica (5th century), which is part of the complex, eight sarcophagi are aligned: *Habitant in basilica*, as the inscription on the front of one of them states.
