FRANCESCO SAVERIO REUSS. — Redemptorist, poet, b. at Bergheim (Strasbourg) on 9 Nov. 1842, d. at Rome on 13 Feb. 1924.
His Latin poems were twice awarded prizes in the literary competitions of Rome and twelve times in the Hoeufftian competition of Amsterdam. Some of his hymns, such as that for the Office of Mary Mediatrix, were inserted by the Sacred Congregation of Rites into the Breviary. He translated many lyrics of St ALPHONSUS DE’ LIGUORI into Latin. His most celebrated compositions are: *Rus Albanum*, *Hirundo Alsatina*, *Claudia Vestalis*.
