REUSS, FRANCESCO SAVERIO. – Redemptorist, poet, b. at Bergheim (Strasbourg) on 9 November 1842, d. at Rome on 13 February 1924.
His Latin poems were awarded prizes twice in the literary competitions of Rome and twelve times in the Hoeffitan competition of Amsterdam. Several of his hymns, such as the one for the Office of Mary Mediatrix, were inserted into the Breviary by the Sacred Congregation of Rites. He translated many lyrics of St. Alfonso de' Liguori into Latin. His most celebrated compositions are: Rus Albanum, Hirundo Alsatina, Claudia Vestalis.
