RUSTICO ROMANO. - Discoso, nephew of Pope Vigilio, was exiled by the Emperor after the Council of 553. He opposed the condemnation of the Three Chapters. There survives of him a Contra Acephalos disputatio (PL 67, 1147-1254), a polemical writing against the Monophysites, perhaps lacking its conclusion. His polemic against the Council of 553, written together with the African abbot Felice, no longer exists. R. is important for his recension and Latin translation of the Acts of the Councils of Ephesus and Chalcedon.
